public and community
Chiverton has carried out numerous major capital works for the public sector, newly constructing or refurbishing buildings such as public offices, archives, day centres, entertainment buildings, libraries and even crematoria.
The company constructed the Arena, a new leisure facility for West Sussex County Council at the Bognor Regis Community College. The building provides leisure and office amenities together with restaurant facilities for use by the school and general public. It comprises a steel frame with metal and brick cladding, a standing seam roof and an innovative free spanning roof structure.
The Westgate Leisure Centre for Chichester District Council involved an extension to provide a Health and Fitness Centre, together with the refurbishment of the restaurant, the foyer and wet change facilities. Complex mechanical and electrical services were installed along with a high quality fitout. The Centre remained open to the public throughout requiring considerable care to be taken to protect the public from any contact with the construction work. Chiverton was commended for its considerate attitude during this difficult project.
One of the many new build projects Chiverton has completed for the community was a club house and changing rooms for Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club. During construction Chiverton had to overcome various technical challenges as the Clubhouse was built into the back of the sea wall with its entrance below the adjacent sea level.
Another new build undertaken was a modern art gallery clad in local flint and roofed in lead. This impressive building featured unusual polished concrete work along with high quality bespoke modern joinery and metalwork.
We are grateful for all the concerted efforts given by Chiverton, working together with SPA, to finish the project successfully. On behalf of Sussex Police, we would like to say thank you for a job well done in Sussex House. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
