townhouse
Project: Georgian Grade II listed townhouse
Architect: Harrington Design
Chiverton undertook the meticulous restoration of this 200-year-old Georgian Grade II listed building to transform it from a 1960s office back into a home. This involved reconfiguring the layout, salvaging and recreating its original features, as well as adding contemporary fixtures and fittings.
The project also required intricate bespoke joinery and specialist plasterwork. Working closely with the client, Chiverton researched numerous old building books and catalogues of mouldings and cornices to determine the final finishes for over 40 metres of cornices that were hand made using traditional techniques.
Modern features for this three-storey townhouse renovation included a contemporary kitchen which compliments the curves and proportions of the room, and the latest technology was discreetly installed throughout the home.
In spite of the enormity of some of the tasks, the work was always done with care and empathy for the building. The team at Chiverton always excelled in dealing with any issues, and the whole task was completed very close to the original timescale and budget.
